Petite Preteen Models - Petite Modeling Do's and Don'ts

What are the chances that an ordinary teenager can become successful even though she isn't 6 feet tall? Well, a lot of petite preteen models actually succeed in the modeling business. There are some Do's and Don'ts that aspiring teen models can follow.

DO:

1. Work on your portfolio - get great headshots. This will get you noticed by agents and casting directors.
2. Mail your headshots to agencies that cater to petite and preteen models.
3. Attend open casting calls.
4. Always be punctual during appointments.
5. Keep a schedule book where you can write down all your appointments so you won't miss them.
6. Treat clients, photographers and fellow aspiring models with respect. Politeness and friendliness will bring you a long way in this business.
7. Prepare a wardrobe you can wear at any moment's notice. Something that works at whatever event you go to.
8. If you can't make it to an appointment, let your agent know so he can talk to the clients. Or if you are unrepresented, talk to the clients.

DON'TS:

1. Cancel an appointment without prior notice. If you do ave to cancel - you must have a very good excuse for not making it to the appointment or else you will be tabbed as unprofessional for the rest of your modeling life.
2. Discuss payment matters with a client if you are represented- this is a job for your agent and it is unethical.
3. Do not be arrogant, stuck-up or condescending to anyone ever. No one likes to work with a primadonna, especially when she isn't even "there" yet.
4. Act like you know everything but don't show people that you're clueless, either. Balance it out.
5.  Don't be too aggressive. This might give people an impression that you're trying to hard or desperate.
6. Do not do things or accept project that you do not want to do. You have the choice to take on some projects and turn down some.

When you're a petite preteen model, people might take advantage of you. However, if you are careful and stay true to your self, you may find that modeling becomes a rather enjoyable job.

Preteen - Hot Preteen Models

Preteen years are very exciting - you are somewhere in between childhood and adolescence and makes you wonder what you will be when you become an adult. Many preteens think of becoming a model. They think it is a hot and great-paying job. But here are some realities about preteen modeling or modeling in general.

1. If you become a preteen model, there is no guarantee you will forever be a model. 

2. It's not all about being a hot preteen. You have to have camera presence. Many beautiful people never succeed in modeling because they show no depth or emotion in photos.

3. You have to be skilled at posing and must understand body your own language.

4. There's a good chance you will trail behind in school matters.

5. You must have an alternative choice of career in case modeling doesn't work out for you.

6. It's not all about the glamour. You have to be tough, physically and emotionally. When you don't do a great job, people will yell at you but you shouldn't take it personally.

7. There will be lots of people who might take advantage of you so you must be careful and stick to the people who love you.

8. You must learn how to connect and build friendships with people. Modeling is about "knowing someone who knows someone" and networking.

9.You have to have confidence. People will be criticizing you a lot - you just have to do your thing and don't mind other people.

10. You have to be diligent and dedicated. Most of the time, call time for models are very early, so you have to get up early and always be polite no matter how tired you are.

Being a preteen in the world of modeling can be very exciting. It can serve as a playground - a place for you to explore as well as develop your skills but without a family behind you or values and beliefs that you stand for, you can get lost in it and never be the same person again. So if you decide to take on preteen modeling or have a modeling career when you become an adult, always remember that only the toughest remain standing.
