Runway Modeling Tips for Runway Models

For a runway model, there's nothing more embarrassing than walking on a runway then suddenly falling flat on your face in front of many people. What's worse is that, camera - possessors are present in the event to capture the moment.

To avoid being humiliated in front of many people and in social media sites, runway models prepare a lot prior to a fashion show.

1. They practice walking in high heels.

You can smirk all you want, but even pros like Campbell, Banks and Klum still practice walking in heels, if possible, practice in heels that they will be wearing during the show. This gives you time to familiarize yourself with your shoes - as you know, every shoe has a different feeling when worn.

2. They practice on the runway

If you can check the runway before the show, that would be an advantage. Familiarizing the environment will ease feelings of tension and will give you confidence to get out there and strut your stuff. Make sure to get a feel of the runway itself - is it too smooth? Is it potentially dangerous? If you feel like there's a possibility you might experience a runway mishap, then strategize to prevent this from happening.

3. They learn multi-tasking

Being on the runway requires a good amount of multi-tasking. Why? Well first of all, you have to remember you are selling clothes. Which means, you have to walk in a way that flatter these clothes most. Second, you have to keep in mind an attitude that fits the clothes you wear. Third, you have to walk in time with the music. Fourth, you have to have proper facial expression. Fifth, you have to be aware of your surroundings and yourself - a lot of models fall because they didn't notice that they are stepping on their dress - this and a whole lot more calls for a model to mentally and physically multi-task.

In truth, falling on a runway is a part of the life of a runway model. Still, to gracefully survive at the end of a fashion show is a goal every model should have.

Tips for Fashion Models - Preparing for A Photoshoot

Even the famous top fashion models we see on TV do preparations for upcoming photoshoots. Just because they are at the "top", doesn't mean they can stop doing things that can help them do their jobs well. What more for fashion models who are only starting out?

If you are about to have your very first professional photoshoot, it is inevitable to feel nervous. Here are some tips you can follow prior to the big day.

1. If you are shooting for a portfolio, mail out your outfit choices a week before the shoot. This way, your photographer may offer some advices and also be prepared.

2. Sleep early the night before the photoshoot. Being late is a big mistake - the clients will tab you for that and may lose your chances of working with them again or be referred to other clients.

3. Moisturize your skin before sleeping and after showering on the day of the shoot. Dry skin will make it hard for the make-up to stay on.

4. Supermodels like Miranda Kerr love taking a tablespoon of virgin coconut oil daily. It is known to help fat build-up in the body and skin break-outs. In Asian countries, women also use it on their hair to make it healthy. So if you wanna feel good (especially in the tummy area), take virgin coconut oil.

5. Prepare all the things you need to bring the night before the shoot. If possible, put everything into one bag.

6. Three days before the shoot, do all the waxing necessary. Remove underarm hairs and re-shape your eyebrows. Three days is advisable because it will give the skin enough time to heal from all the pulling and plucking.

7. Two or one day before the shoot, call your photographer or if you have one, your agent. Confirm if the photoshoot is still on.

8. Of course, if you want to be a fashion model longer, you have to keep your body looking healthy. Exercise can also help you to have glowing skin - just in time for your photoshoot.
