Preteen - Hot Preteen Models

Preteen years are very exciting - you are somewhere in between childhood and adolescence and makes you wonder what you will be when you become an adult. Many preteens think of becoming a model. They think it is a hot and great-paying job. But here are some realities about preteen modeling or modeling in general.

1. If you become a preteen model, there is no guarantee you will forever be a model.

2. It's not all about being a hot preteen. You have to have camera presence. Many beautiful people never succeed in modeling because they show no depth or emotion in photos.

3. You have to be skilled at posing and must understand body your own language.

4. There's a good chance you will trail behind in school matters.

5. You must have an alternative choice of career in case modeling doesn't work out for you.

6. It's not all about the glamour. You have to be tough, physically and emotionally. When you don't do a great job, people will yell at you but you shouldn't take it personally.

7. There will be lots of people who might take advantage of you so you must be careful and stick to the people who love you.

8. You must learn how to connect and build friendships with people. Modeling is about "knowing someone who knows someone" and networking.

9.You have to have confidence. People will be criticizing you a lot - you just have to do your thing and don't mind other people.

10. You have to be diligent and dedicated. Most of the time, call time for models are very early, so you have to get up early and always be polite no matter how tired you are.

Being a preteen in the world of modeling can be very exciting. It can serve as a playground - a place for you to explore as well as develop your skills but without a family behind you or values and beliefs that you stand for, you can get lost in it and never be the same person again. So if you decide to take on preteen modeling or have a modeling career when you become an adult, always remember that only the toughest remain standing.

Parenting A Teen Model - How to Help Her Develop Positive Body Image

There could be millions of things that make parenting a teen model  can be difficult, one of them could be the problem of poor body image of their child. Children or teenagers these days are exposed to all sorts of media. With the internet and cable TV, the influences that young people have these days - bulimic actresses and anorexic models - may affect the way he or she perceives herself and her body. Especially for a teen model who is exposed to a weight-obsessed industry.

So what can a parent do to promote positive body image on their teen model?

1. Set an example. Parents will always be the role models of their children, no matter what. So practice a positive outlook on your body, too, start by not being so obsessed with your waistline!

2. When you see your teen model gazing at her reflection for too long, as if inwardly contemplating her imperfections, stop her. Limit mirror-time in your home.

3. Always speak out the positive things you see about other people, yourself and your child. Instead of commenting on how big your neighbor's butt is, comment on the good things about his/her appearance instead, like "she has beautiful, full lips" or "I like the way Jane wears her hair."

4. Watch TV with him/ her. It will give you an idea of his/ her influences. That way, you will have an idea where his insecurities may come from.

5. Discuss how the media sometimes make a bigger deal of things even though they are not. Tell her about the things that media do that make the bodies in magazines unrealistic. Better yet, show him/ her un-photoshopped pictures of Britney Spears (You can find hundreds of them on the internet). That will get your point across.

Parenting a teen model can be very challenging. You have to have patience as well communicate well to your child so that he or she may have a more positive body image.

Preteen Models and Actors – What Makes Them Crazy?

Probably half the numbers of successful celebrities in Hollywood today were preteen models or have done acting jobs at a young age. Such celebrities are Drew Barrymoore and Katherine Heigl (two of the most sought-after actresses of today).

Being involved in the modeling world and show business at a young age have their advantages - like having the chance to meet celebrities, earn money and have lots of time to build up your career and hone your talents with the help of industry professionals. Plus, it gives one the rare chance to inspire other kids – to become role models.

It is alarming, however, how many of these former preteen stars like Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan became the worst role models when they became adults. We believe the following contributed to these stars’ slow decent to insanity (exaggeratedly speaking):

1. Promising career at a young age – This can be a good thing, but to an extent. Most child stars have limited parental supervision - or at least, a different sort of supervision compared to normal children. In the normal world, when kids misbehave, parents ground them or do not allow them to use the computer. But how can a punishment like being grounded stand in the glitzy world where your child is required to travel to different parts of the country for a photoshoot or go to redcarpet premieres? It seems you need super parental authority to discipline a child in the spotlight.

2. Parents tend to spoil their child star – Let’s face it, when someone’s kid is making more money than their parents, parents could not help but feel proud as well as develop a special preference for their little breadwinner. As a result, parents tend to let their kids get away with almost anything, which can cause the child to become spoiled.

If you are a parent who is thinking about helping your child get into preteen modeling or child actingyou should bear in mind that it comes with lots of disadvantages just as well as advantages. You have to be prepared for all of them and protect your child from elements that could affect their well-being; after all, it is your job as a parent.
