Modeling Jobs – Signs of A Modeling Scam

Good modeling jobs are so hard to find when you don’t have previous modeling experience. There are so many young, beautiful, talented, aspiring models out there, hoping to break out into the modeling industry but don’t know where or how to begin. And most of these aspiring models ignore tiny, little signs that they are being scammed just to chase their dream.

You should know that just because someone presents you a business card saying he’s a modeling agent, doesn’t mean he could actually give you legit modeling jobs. To help you sort out the real ones from the fake, here are 2 of some well-known modus operandi of modeling scam artists:

1. UPFRONT FEE

This is the most obvious sign of all. It practically screams “modeling scam!” in an ear-splitting volume. A scammer would most likely ask you to pay some sort of fee before getting you booked or before signing a contract. Others would ask you to pay a couple hundred bucks so that they can make you a comp card.

Remember that legitimate modeling agencies actually never ask you for any kind of upfront fee. Modeling agencies often only take 10% of your earnings after you get paid from modeling jobs, so to pay before actually doing any kind of modeling?... Totally scam-potential.

2. PHOTOSHOOT THEN YOU GET REPRESENTED!

There are some reports of scammers pretending to be professional photographers who are looking for aspiring models.

It goes like this, the “photographer” chooses 10 to 15 girls for a day dedicated to fashion photography and then afterwards, he chooses the best picture of the bunch and viola! The model in the photo is off to the big city to start a fabulous modeling life.

Again, this is a scam tapping you on the shoulder. No professional and sane photographer would agree to shoot 15 girls in one day! He will never get good pictures if he does that and trust me; photographers know that it is unethical, tiring and impossible. What’s more – it is agents who would most likely scout for models and not photographers.

It’s great if you get modeling jobs right from the moment you get out there and look for them but be very careful about the people who offer them to you or agency you’re going to. The world isn’t all bright and fabulous like those modeling dreams of yours, you know.http://www.newfaces.com/castingcalls-auditions.php
